Well after 3 days of Christmas celebrations, all is back to normal today. The only “real” plans on the agenda for today….. go to the gym. The holidays are awesome and it’s always a bit hard to get back to reality. It does make it a little easier, though, knowing that I still have over a week off from work. Yesssss!!!!!
The festivities began on Christmas Eve evening at my in-laws home. The gifts were definitely plentiful. The kids got TONS of stuff! I got a super cute and comfy Vera Bradley robe, blanket and slippers.
Madelyn’s gift took the cake, though, for sure! Her grandfather made her a tack box and saddle holder to hold her brand new saddle that she also got. She was so surprised…. just look at that face!
After getting home Christmas Eve night, we made sure to leave Santa cookies and we went with water instead of milk.
I was up at 4:00 am to get all of Santa’s gifts out.
Once everything was out and ready; I really wasn’t all that tired. I decided to just stay up and enjoy the quiet morning. It was perfect…… I had a cup of coffee, my Max, Christmas music and the Christmas tree lights.
Santa was pretty darn good to the kiddos! And Landen had a big surprise. Typically, all of the gifts from Santa are just left out unwrapped, but this one, I wrapped up in tissue paper and put it in a bag.
He got an iPad Air!!! He had been begging for one like crazy and I know he didn’t think he would be getting one.
I was VERY excited to get not one, but two Vera Bradley scarves, a Vera shopping bag and a Vera travel mug from Brad and the kids.
The rest of the day got really busy and, unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures. My mom, sister, sister’s boyfriend, nieces and brother all came over to my house for the day. We weren’t celebrating Christmas until the day after because of my dad being out of town, but we still wanted to be together for Christmas. I made breakfast and the kids had a blast playing and showing off their new gifts. It was such a great day! After lunch they went home and I surprisingly got in a 6 mile run. I wasn’t really planning to run, but it felt good to work off some of those Christmas cookies. And for dinner…. chocolate chip Belgian waffles. Yum…. my favorite!!
Yesterday morning, we headed to my mom and dad’s house for more celebrating.
The best thing about the holidays is definitely getting to spend time with all of my favorite people! Below is Millie (the dog), Ava, Madelyn, Kristin (my sister), Ella, Ronnie (my brother) and Alexis.
Love these two, old partners in crime!
The giving and receiving of gifts is pretty great too!
My brother, sister and I surprised my mom with pictures of us that we had taken over Thanksgiving. There were tears, so we knew the gift was a success and she loved them.
And more unwrapping!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and were able to share memories with your loved ones, too.
Here’s to a happy new year, with more family fun!
Something to think about….
What was your favorite memory from Christmas (if you celebrate)?
Do you have a favorite gift that you gave or received?
What are your plans for New Year’s Eve?
