An award & Peanut Butter Blossoms

liebster-award-1How absolutely sweet is this?!?! The lovely ladies, Giselle @ My Healthy Happy Home and Jess @ Jessie Bear, What Will You Wear both nominated me for a Liebster Award within the same week. How crazy is that? For those of you that haven’t ever seen the award it is given to up and coming bloggers that you want to recognize. The word Liebster is a German word meaning Beloved, Dearest, or Favorite. Thank you so much, Giselle & Jess! Now the tough part is coming up with answers and questions. If you’re only interested in the Peanut Butter Blossoms, scroll on down. I won’t blame you….they’re Peanut Butter Blossoms after all!

The rules are, you must:

  • Post 11 random facts about yourself.
  • Answer the 11 interview questions you’ve been given by the person who nominated you.
  • Create 11 new questions for the bloggers you nominate.
  • Nominate 11 bloggers you love and mention them in your post.
  • Go and tell the person who nominated you, along with the people you’ve nominated about your post.

Here are 11 random facts about me…..

1. Favorite show and only show I’m watching right now is Grey’s Anatomy.

2. I didn’t used to be, but I’m such a morning person. I HATE sleeping past 7:30! I feel like I’ve waisted my morning if I do. I love my quiet mornings…sipping coffee and reading blogs.

3. When I was in 2nd grade, I wished that my name was Kelly and actually wrote it on an assignment and turned it into the teacher. She was quite puzzled when she came to the paper with Kelly written at the top, but no Kelly in the class. ;)

4. I was 17 when I had my first child and yes, I’m still happily married to her father.

5. I’ve had a total of 5 different types of jobs. I’ve been a waitress, tanning salon clerk, nurse’s aid, teacher and I’m now a diagnostician.

6. About 12 years ago, I flipped my brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee. It still had tags on from the dealer. I was extremely shaken up, bumped and bruised, but okay. I was careflighted for precaution. Luckily, I was the only one involved in the accident. A few weeks later, insurance came through and I got the exact same Jeep. Same color and everything.

7. I know most of you aren’t too surprised by this, but there is very rarely a day that goes by I don’t eat an apple. You know what they say an apple a day keeps the doctor away!

8. Speaking of keeping the doctor away…. I haven’t been sick in ages and  I don’t have any allergies. I’m pretty lucky, but hopefully I didn’t just jinx myself!

9. My very favorite place to be is the beach. Why I don’t live in California or Florida, I don’t know!

10. My daughter attends the same high school that I did and even had the same driver’s ed teacher!

11. As a kid my very favorite movie and song was Girls Just Want to Have Fun, starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt. It is absolutely hilarious to watch now!

Since both Giselle and Jess nominated me in the same week, I’m going to choose questions from both to answer.

A good book, my family and my iPhone

Wedding cake, of course!

3. What was your first car?
1991 Geo Storm…. it was turquoise with a pink pinstripe. Yes, I was stylin’!!

The Polar Express…no matter how many times I see this movie, it still brings a tear to my eye.

6. Would you rather go to a movie theater or watch a movie at home?
Sometimes it’s fun to go out and go to the movies, but it’s so much more comfy to curl up on the couch in your pj’s to watch a movie. Also, you can pause it and get up to grab more snacks whenever you want. ;)

Both Wedding Crashers and Dumb and Dumber crack me up more than any other movies. I also really love the movie Pay it Forward. Oops..I guess I cheated, that’s three.

These Peanut Butter Blossoms are pretty much a Christmas classic for lots of people. Strangely enough, they never have been for me, but they are going to be now. These things are better than I ever remember. I used the recipe straight from the Hershey kiss bag and have to share because I want all of you to know just how good these little suckers are.

I followed the recipe exactly. I would love to try a healthified version, but I just don’t have the time at the moment. I’m sure you guys can understand and these are for giving away, so I want them to be super-duper tasty…..and they ARE!

Leave a comment and answer one of the above questions or leave a random fact about yourself!

What is that one cookie for you that is a Christmas classic?

Ever tried Peanut Butter Blossoms? If not, you should!

See you tomorrow with WIAW!

  1. Love learning little things about other bloggers! I feel like I know you a bit better now ;) Those peanut butter cookies look so good. My nana makes them every year on Christmas and they are always a hit with my family!

  2. Kim, thank you for the nomination! How fun! I can’t wait to answer your questions. Who doesn’t like talking about themselves, right? :) Also, you’re cracking me up with “Kelly.” Ha! That sounds like something I would do. I have a 2nd grade story to swap. In 2nd grade, I failed a spelling test *frowny face*, and my teacher told me I had to have my mom sign it. Afraid of how disappointed my mom would be, I did what every 2nd grader would do and forged her signature. Okay, maybe not every 2nd grader would do that, but I did. And boy, did my teacher see right through that! I learned a lesson in honesty at a very early age. :)

On another tangent, peanut butter blossoms! OMG!

  3. Wedding cake is your favorite dessert?!? I’m surprised. Fun stuff–I love reading about the people whose blogs I read the most. :) I was nominated for this as well, just haven’t had time to type it all up! Thanks goodness Winter Break begins on Friday. Yipee!
Michelle @ Eat Move Balance Friday’s Five!My Profile

    • I was actually going to nominate you, but noticed on another blog that you already had been. My winter break begins on Friday too and I’m counting down the days. ;)

  4. Peanut Butter Blossoms are my absolute favorite cookie!! Is it bad that sometimes I cheat and use the bagged peanut butter cookie mix? People can never tell and always rave about the “recipe.” It is a funny secret between my mom and me.

Thank you so much for the nomination! I have received several nominations for the award lately but have been INSANELY busy this month (more on that on the blog later). I am going to do my best to get some of those great questions answered here shortly!! :)
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl What a Vegetarian Eats at…ChipotleMy Profile

    • Not bad at all. I’ve noticed that the bagged cookies are sometimes just as tasty. ;) It is a bit time consuming answering and creating all of the questions.
